Barry Steinberg, Chief Executive Officer
Barry Steinberg, M.A.Sc., C.E.T., P.Eng., serves as Chief Executive Officer of Consulting Engineers of Ontario. He came to CEO from the Ontario Real Estate Association. Barry’s for-profit sector career includes consulting engineering in energy management and remote power system design, international marketing management, product development and executive management in the manufacturing sector.
Barry holds undergraduate and master of applied science degrees in mechanical engineering from the University of Toronto; and executive certificates in Business Communication Management and Leading Sustainable Strategic Change from the Sprott School of Business at Carleton University and The Schulich School of Business at York University. Barry is a member of the Canadian Society of Association Executives, Ontario Society of Professional Engineers and Professional Engineers Ontario
Cindy Gonsalves, Director, Finance & Operation
Cindy Gonsalves is responsible for CEO’s financial reporting and through her reports in administration, communication and member services and events, the association’s operations. Cindy has 23 years of experience in association management, which includes 16 years with the Ontario Hot Mix Producers Association, where she held the position of director of operations and events, looking after its day-to-day operations, financial reporting and event planning. She also spent six years at the Canadian Payroll Association. Her volunteer activities include being a member of the Canadian Association of Association Executives which CEO is a member of and in 2015 is the chair of the CSAE Trillium Chapter Awards Gala committee.

David Zurawel, Director, Government & Stakeholder Relations
Drawing on more than 12 years’ public affairs experience, David Zurawel is responsible for providing strategic counsel and policy advice while building CEO’s industry profile with government officials and other stakeholders. Prior to joining CEO David played a leadership role in Ontario’s public sector efforts to reshape the province’s occupational health and safety system. His other not-for-profit experience includes working in Ontario’s renewable energy and institutional, commercial and industrial (ICI) construction sectors. David has served as an executive assistant to the Parliamentary Assistant to Ontario’s Attorney General, and managed operations of the Ontario government’s Toronto Caucus. He has also worked in public affairs for an international public relations agency and held positions at Canada’s embassy and for a Member of the United States House of Representatives in Washington, D.C.
David earned his Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Political Science from the University of Western Ontario and his Master of Arts in Political Science from Wilfrid Laurier University.

Chaslene Pilgrim, Procurement and Contract Specialist
Chaslene Pilgrim has extensive healthcare sector experience. Most recently she worked for a provincial not-for-profit organization. She also has more than 20 years’ experience in business administration. During her 7-year tenure in the healthcare sector, Chaslene developed policies, processes, and procedures that produced a new model of procurement that was adopted across the sector.
At CEO, Chaslene develops innovative solutions to bring about positive change to municipal, provincial, and broader public sector contracts. She monitors and evaluates government legislation, regulations of initiatives impacting our CEO member firms. Chaslene develops and promotes a CEO contracts issues program. She also works with senior management to engage CEO’s Chapters, Business Risk, Government Relations and Liaison Committees to improve their level of activity and effectiveness.

Diane Lee, Communications Specialist

Diane Lee is responsible for executing the implementation of a range of communication and marketing initiatives in support of the CEO’s goals and objectives. Diane has extensive experience in corporate communication, digital communications and project management. Previously, she held the position of account executive at a leading global public relations agency where she developed and directed communications plans for private, government and non-profit organizations.
Diane works closely with senior management to develop key messages and marketing strategies to effectively deliver desired messages to CEO members, media and industry stakeholders.She holds an Honours Bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the University of Toronto.

Laura Lambie, Membership and Volunteer Engagement Specialist
Laura serves as the association’s chief engagement advocate, working collaboratively with the volunteer oversight and membership engagement committees to improve the quality of member engagement and volunteerism. Laura is experienced in program design and implementation of volunteer, health promotion, and therapeutic recreation programs. Her experience also includes volunteer engagement in both the not-for-profit and public sectors.
Prior to joining CEO, Laura worked as a Volunteer Coordinator for a community health center, with a focus of engaging volunteers with physical disabilities. Her volunteer activities include acting as an Ambassador for Parkinson Canada’s National Advocacy Network. Laura holds an Honours Bachelor of Applied Science in Adult Development from The University of Guelph.

Lauryn Weinberger, Member Services & Events Planner
Lauryn is responsible for executing the Association’s member services and for coordinating all events undertaken by CEO with the intent to provide benefit to members. Lauryn is experienced in event management. Previously, she held the position of fundraising coordinator at a leading not for profit organization where she developed and executed numerous events and fundraising campaigns. Lauryn holds a certificate in Event Management from Algonquin College in Ottawa Ontario.
